CTN Spotlight on... Courtney!
CTNX: Hi Courtney, it's a pleasure to speak with you! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
CB: Courtney, from Los Angeles (drawing is my hobby; I'm a copyeditor by day).
CTNX: When and how did your relationship with CTN begin?
CB: Last year (early 2016) I saw that CTN was looking for volunteers for its expo. As I'm a huge fan of several CTN guests and luminaries, I just had to sign up!
CTNX: What have your positions been with CTNX and what have you learned most from your experience working with CTN?
CB: I was in charge of lines/crowd control over by the conference room. I learned that a positive attitude and just "doing" what I needed to do makes all the difference. (I'm shy and have a small voice!) I actually had a blast, and learned how to shout a little louder.
CTNX: What are your ultimate career goals?
CB: I love the animation industry/film industry, and I'd love to work in some type of creative or illustration field.
CTNX: How does working with CTN help you meet those goals?
CB: I get to be near like-minded people; and watch my artist-heroes work!
CTNX: What have you learned most from your experience working with CTN?
CB: Near a book-signing area. I got to meet Nathan Fowkes, and I saw Iain McCaig and Vance Kovacs! (And Claire Wendling walked right by me, but I played it cool.) At Vance Kovac's panel, he shared wisdom about how to be inspired and actually produce the work. It was amazingly helpful.
CTNX: What do you look forward to most in the coming years regarding your career?
CB: Getting better at drawing (and purchasing more art books)!
CTNX: Is there anything else you'd like to add?
CB: Thanks for the experience, CTN!
CTNX: It was a pleasure to talk with you Courtney!
